SJL3: MT/WY

The next leg of my journey had me flying (back to that plane part) from Seattle to Great Falls, MT and then driving (o look automobile) to Red Lodge, MT with a brief stop in Bozeman, MT. My journey also took me to Cody, WY.

Going to take things a little old school and omit the words and let the pictures do the talking.

SJL3: Scenic driving at its best

Leaving Red Lodge and headed to Cody I took the Beartooth Highway to the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. Lots of memories for me on this drive. If you don’t get carsick and aren’t in a big rig (there are probably some guidelines on the websites as to vehicle sizes – some of the turns and grades are pretty extreme), I HIGHLY recommend this drive. It is breathtaking.

Finding Devil’s Kitchen

Devil’s Kitchen is a geological site in Big Horn County, Wyoming. I was there with Ruby a couple years ago (see below).

Taking a break from exploring Devil’s Kitchen

On a whim, I decided to try and find the spot again and grab some shots. While I did go around 6:30pm, it was still too early in the afternoon to get any great shots – the best thing about Devil’s Kitchen is that if you can time the visit just right, the sun hits the rocks and the colors are pretty epic.

I did a little off-roading via foot and managed to not kill myself. Although I did have a moment when I couldn’t figure out how to get back up the hill! Here are a couple clicks of Devil’s Kitchen and of the drive there.

Winter Wanderings

The best part of teaching is the month off during the winter season (Thanksgiving till 1st week of Jan!). This winter was rather busy, after exams I flew out to Wyoming for a two week training session (me=trainer), then from Wyoming to Florida to spend the rest of the winter with friends and family. I’ve managed to make my way from Titusville to Naples and down to Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood before coming back to Titusville. I’m enjoying the sunshine, especially with the knowledge that Ohio is getting hammered with snow, but mostly I’m enjoying being able to spend time with my family and catch up with friends.

Ruby has been spending her winter vacation in Titusville at Casa de Templeton Parents. Where I am enjoying the warmth, she will be VERY happy to see snow and bask in the cooler climate.

I’ll pull out of Florida by Jan 2 and start the journey back to Ohio, with a stop in South Carolina before parking my soon-to-be frozen rear in Lima. I hope everyone had a super Merry Christmas and has festive plans for New Year (and the New Year!)
